Spotlighting the top players from schools inside the Chicago city limits.

Here is the second annual City Lights All-City girls basketball team. A few notes:

There were 32 nominations from 18 schools this season, compared to 33 nominations from 16 schools last year.

I asked for input on X (formerly Twitter). Most players were nominated by their high-school coaches. I also had input from a travel-ball coach and cross-cheecked the nominations against those submitted for the Illinois Media All-State teams.

First team, in alphabetical order

Sereniti Adams, Butler, senior, forward: Oakland recruit. IBCA Class 3A third-team All-State. Averaged 12.4 ppg, 9.4 rpg. Had nearly 900 points and 750 rebounds for her career.

Sariah Allen, Crane, freshman, guard: Illinois Media Class 2A honorable mention All-State. Averaged 15.2 ppg, 4.7 spg, 2.2 rpg, 1.7 apg. All-tourney at Perspectives tourney.

Lakeeyah Barnes, Phillips, senior, guard: Illinois Media Class 2A second-team All-State. IBCA Class 2A special mention All-State. Two-time Illinois Media honorable mention All-State. Tourney MVP in Public League Thanksgiving tourney and Montini Christmas tourney. Averaged 15.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.3 apg. Scored 1,349 points as four-year varsity player.

Calee Biedron, Resurrection, senior, guard: Olivet Nazarene recruit. IBCA Class 3A third-team All-State. Averaged 13 ppg, 3.3 spg, 2 apg, 2 rpg. Shot 45% from the field, 63% from the line. Had more than 1,200 career points. All-tourney for Hoffman Estates, Latin and Perspectives tourneys.

Danielle Brooks, Kenwood, sophomore, guard: IBCA Class 4A third-team All-State. Averaged 12.2 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.0 spg. Shot 44% from the field, 37% from 3-point range, 70% from the line. All-tourney at Naperville Central Tip-Off tourney.

Jazmyne Bynum. Hyde Park, senior, guard: IBCA Class 3A third-team All-State. Two-time Illinois Media Class 3A honorable mention All-State. Miami Dade recruit. Averaged 16.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.3 apg, 4.1 spg. Tourney MVP for Hyde Park Thanksgiving tourney. Had 1,315 points, 590 rebounds, 445 steals, 331 assists for her career.

Morgan Feil, Mother McAuley, senior, forward: McKendree recruit. IBCA Class 4A third-team All-State. Averaged 14.4 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 bpg. All-tourney at Doreen Zimmer Turkey Thanksgiving tourney. Four-year varsity player finished with more than 1,000 points.

Mia Gaines, Hyde Park, senior, center: Illinois Media and IBCA Class 3A first-team All-State. SIU recruit. Averaged 16.7 ppg, 14.7 rpg, 4.8 bpg, 1.5 spg. All-tourney at Hyde Park Thanksgiving tourney. Had 1,025 points, almost 1,000 rebounds, 100+ blocks for her career.

Ariella Henigan, Kenwood, junior, guard: IBCA Class 4A second-team All-State. Illinois Media Class 4A honorable mention All-State. Averaged 18.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 4.5 apg, 2.7 spg. Shot 52% from the field, 81% from the line. All-tourney at Naperville Central Tip-Off tourney (MVP) and Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic. Has more than 1,200 points, 400 rebounds, 400 assists for her career.

Destiny Jackson, Young, junior, guard: Illinois Media Class 4A first-team All-State this season and two-time Illinois Media honorable mention All-State in 2021-22 and 2022-23. IBCA Class 4A first-team All-State. Averaged 16.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 4.0 apg, 3.3 spg. Has 1,518 points, 502 rebounds, 327 assists and 320 steals for her career.

Jamilah Jackson, Westinghouse, junior, guard: IBCA Class 3A third-team All-State. Illinois Media Class 3A honorable mention All-State. Averaged 17.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.0 spg. Three-year starter has 1,481 points, more than 500 rebounds, more than 250 steals and more than 250 assists for her career.

Kamryn Porter, De La Salle, senior, guard/forward: IBCA Class 3A second-team All-State. Illinois Media Class 3A hoonorable mention All-State. Program’s all-time scoring leader with more than 1,500 points. Averaged 21.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.4 apg, 2.7 spg. All-tourney at Bill Neibch Wheaton North tourney.

Yahri Smith, Butler, senior, guard: Lewis recruit. Averaged 10 ppg, 2 rpg, 2.2 apg. Finished with almost 700 points, 200 rebounds and 250 assists in two varsity seasons.

London Walker-George, DePaul Prep, junior, forward: Averaged 12.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2 apg. All-tourney at Loyola Christmas tourney. Has 769 points, 463 rebounds, 144 assists for her career.

Xamiya Walton, Butler, senior, guard: Three-time IBCA first-team All-State. Two-time Illinois Media first-team All-State (Class 3A in 2023-24, Class 2A in 2022-23). Northwestern recruit. Averaged 20.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 6 apg, 5 spg. Had 2,664 points, more than 520 rebounds, more than 640 assists for her career.

Melanie Blanco, Lane, junior, guard: Averaged 10.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.6 apg.

LaMonyca Bryant, Westinghouse, senior, guafrd/forward: Averaged 11.7 ppg, 12 rpg, 3.7 spg, 1.7 apg, 1.5 bpg. Had more than 800 points, more than 600 rebounds and more than 250 steals for her career.

Grace Bush, Lane, junior, forward: Averaged 9.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.4 apg.

Zydrea Childs, Ogden, senior guard: Averaged 13 ppg, 5 apg, 6 rpg, 4 spg.

Kasey Galloway, DePaul Prep, senior, guard: Averaged 11.2 ppg, 2.5 spg, 1.7 spg. All-tourney at Loyola Christmas tourney. Shot 37% from 3-point range. Had 752 points, 174 assists, 123 steals for her career.

Grace Gambotz, Mother McAuley, senior, guard: IBCA Class 4A special mention All-State. Saginaw Valley State recruit. Averaged 12.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.0 apg. All-tourney at Morton College Christmas tourney. Four-year varsity player finished with more than 1,000 career points.

Makiya Horbrook, Hyde Park, junior, guard: Averaged 7.4 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.7 apg, 2.7 spg. All-tourney at Hyde Park Thanksgiving tourney. Has 660 points, 219 rebounds, 262 assists in three seasons.

Kiaya Johnson, Young, junior, guard: IBCA Class 4A third-team All-State. Had 427 points, 94 rebounds, 83 assists, 61 steals.

Oluwabukola Onigbinde, Von Steuben, senior, forward/center: Averaged 21 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 apg.

Khamarianna Payne, Curie, senior, guard: Averaged 16 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 spg.

Taniya Reynolds, Crane, freshman, guard: Averaged 9.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.0 spg.

Kamaria Sephus, Phillips, sophomore, guard: Averaged 13.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.0 spg.

Carmani Sharkey, Orr, sophomore, guard: Averaged 14 ppg, 5 apg, 5 rpg.

Alaina Shields, Young, junior, guard: Had 227 points, 99 rebounds, 92 assists and 88 steals.

Xyanna Walton, Butler, sophomore, guard: Illinois Media Class 3A honorable mention All-State in 2023-24, Class 2A second-team All-State in 2022-23. IBCA Class 3A special mention All-State. Limited to 14 games this season because of injury. Averaged 11 ppg, 9 rpg, 4 spg, 3 apg.

Tiara Williams, Morgan Park Academy, freshman, guard: IBCA Class 1A second-team All-State. All-tourney for Morgan Park Academy Thanksgiving and Kennedy Christmas tourneys. Averaged 28.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.1 spg, made 89 3-pointers.

Chrishawndra Wright, Prosser, sophomore, guard: Averaged 21 ppg, 12 rpg, 6 apg.
